Last Piece of the Puzzle

Wednesday, February 8, 2012 4:00 PM

We have completed another milestone. Yesterday afternoon we installed the final track section. Since the last blog update on Jan 24 we have installed 242.7 metric tons of steel (34 track sections and 34 columns). While on the surface it would appear that the ride construction is complete, we actually have quite a bit of work left to do. Our focus will turn to track alignment, torquing the bolted connections, and grouting the column bases.

At the station the cladding of the exterior walls is underway, and the elevator shaft masonry work is complete. The electrical work is continuing; we anticipate it will take another month to complete the pulling of wire and terminating each of the conductors. The station roof work will wrap up in the next week. The pneumatic work is progressing, and the operators booth walls have been started.

We have begun work on other buildings in the Leviathan station plaza. We have relocated one of the games buildings in the plaza and started work on the entrance to the arcade building. With the ride occupying such a large area, we have a fair bit of landscape work to do and will continue with this right up until opening day.

Don’t forget to check out the new photos in gallery.
