Nearing the Top

Monday, November 14, 2011 4:05 PM

The concrete piers that support the ride are finished; with just 20 pier caps left to complete over the next few weeks. The station ground slab has been completed and the structural steel of the station will be going up during the week of November 21. Underground electrical work is nearing completion. The trenching to the trim brakes is complete, and we are in the process of relocating some underground utilities into the ride station building.

We have installed the last set of lift columns, keeping lift construction on schedule to be completed this week. There are two temporary supports in place that will be removed once the last lift section is installed. We are currently working on installing the electrical conduits, catwalks and handrails on the remaining lift sections before they are installed, which will happen later this week. The brake run on the return track over Dragon Fire will also be completed this week.

For another look at the construction of this world class roller coaster check out Daily Planet on Discovery Channel later this month.
